Being a "Twiny"

So, you may ask "What is a Twiny?" well it is a twin! Haha. Me and my sister call each other that every once in a while. Here lately a lot. I think it sounds older than "Sissy" like I have been calling her for years.

Well lets get to the point. In this post I want to tell you what it is like being a twin. Yep, it is different than being a "normal" set of siblings. In fact I truly have no idea what being a sibling truly is like because I have never been one. I have always been a twin. It gets hard but, I would like to share the ups and downs of being a "Twiny".

First let me tell you what took place when me and my "Twiny" where born.

The life of two beautiful, wonderful, Godly young ladies started in my mothers womb. But she did not know she had two in there. Yep, we where a surprise! My mother and father prayed for twins, longed for twins, and felt like it was God's will for them to have twins. My mother did not have the easiest pregnancy but, at the end of it all I think she thinks it was worth it! After all that prayer and other fun stuff that comes with a pregnancy it was time to have the baby. They went to the local hospital for a emergency c-section.  Once they got there everything was ready for the baby to come. Remember, I am a twin! My mother had a ultrasound a hour before she had us and just 1 baby showed up.

Oh, and I forgot to tell you that when my mother had a baby shower she had two of everything! God's blessing I say! 2 car seats two of everything! By the time me and my "Twiny" where born my parents had not had the time to take all the "doubles" back to the store.

Now back to the birth. So my mother starts having us and the doctor still has no idea that we are both in there. Then he says "There is something else in here". That scared my mother and father. They didn't know if is a tumor or whatever! Then the doctor says "There is two babies"! My Father almost passed out! The only problem was, they had nothing ready for me! Haha. They had to run through the hospital very very quickly to get everything!

I know you may think that story isn't true but, it is! I was a surprise!

Now on to how it has been being a "Twiny"!

It's not always be a sunny time but, we have always been close! Being a "Twiny" is like having a built in best friend! We talk about everything, do almost everything together, and even share clothes! Haha. But we are different people!

One of the many misconceptions about twins is they are "one person" or the "same person". Yes I have heard those words come out of peoples mouth. I know it may be hard for you to imagine you saying that but, you have thought it. Even my best friend sometimes finds himself putting us together and we have basically grew up together. So you ask, "Are twins the same person"? No, that is not true! Yes, we do like to dress alike sometimes. Yes, we do have most of the same friends. And yes, we do even share the same view points on most things! But, we are not the "same person" by any means.

Let me explain.
  • She likes pink, I like black.
  • She has a couple of best friends I don't consider my "best friends" but, they're still my friends.
  • She doesn't really do anything with music besides singing and I have a passion for music!
  • She likes romance novels, I like anything to deal with anything but!
  • She loves to watch the "Love Saga" movies, I like to watch "Farm Kings" on GAC.
  • She likes to wear dress, I like to wear jeans and boots!
So basically what I am saying is I am a "Rockin' Redneck" as she likes to call me and she is a "Missy" like I pick on her and say. We are two totally different people! So next time you see a twin please don't assume they are just alike! Cause' most likely they are not.

Another thing that really gets on my nerves is when people ask "Are y'all twins?". Yep, another thing that when you read it you think "No way" but yes way! It happens all the time. I want to say "No we are just the same age and happen to look alike". Which is virtually impossible! So please if you see me and my sister or any other set of twins or 2 people that look like twins, please don't ask this question. It does get annoying.

The number one blessing of being a "Twiny" is togetherness. You truly learn how to share. It is something I can always look back on and help teach my future children how to share. That will hopefully make my children better people for the work of Christ. Learning how to share love, food, services, and most importantly sharing to word of God with the people who would other wise not be able to know about the word. That is what will last me a lifetime. The gift of being a twin is togetherness and sharing.

Being a twin is the ultimate sisterhood anyone could ask for! It may have it's ups and downs but, through it all God has given me a blessing! My sister.
